Great to see Acquira’s latest research on private equity and consolidation in the UK legal market featured prominently by Legal Futures on 3 June 2026 — and particularly pleasing to make the front page of the digital edition.
The article, “The clock is ticking: PE investment in law down but deal volume up”, highlighted an interesting shift in the market. While the overall value of private equity investment has fallen from the exceptional levels seen in 2024, deal activity and the number of investors looking at the legal sector continue to grow.
Our research also points to a broader change in strategy, with capital increasingly targeting specialist, scalable and regional legal businesses rather than waiting for the much-predicted breakthrough into traditional large corporate law firms.
For law firm owners, this changing landscape creates opportunities — but also some important strategic decisions around growth, succession, valuation and consolidation.
“The UK legal market is no longer simply consolidating. It is being structurally
reshaped by capital, scale and platform strategy.”
